I would be surprised as heck if Farabee makes the
Team out of camp. He would have to blow the wheels off to impress Fletcher enough. I think Fletcher values speed and size. Farabee has the speed and skill but not size and physicality. Not saying Fletcher doesn’t value that but he does value size for this team.

I could see Farabee making enough of a case by the end of the Junior world showcase that they have to bring him up. That could be his path.

Had a late season injury scare but otherwise an excellent draft-plus-one season. He'd have been my pick as well, but I am still hopeful that O'Brien's rough year last season is behind him and he gets back on track.

I had an issue with fit last season, I just didnt like the mix of players. Right or wrong,
Fletcher has tried to address the issue, for that I am happy. I do think he overpaid on Braun which triggered susequent events that I did not like. The other moves I really like and can personally justify in my own head. I have read numerous articles on Braun, good and bad, the last one was bad. This is a risk Fletcher took, every GM has to take risk. I like he did it without giving up players, didnt like the cost and buyouts that occured after.

Thinking about it, only time will tell, how Braun plays and how the team plays will either justify the move or have this board and fans all over Fletcher. I do think it is very important who they pair Braun with. From what I read, Braun skates well, steps up at the blue, takes space away in the D zone but does not make a good breakout from the D zone...

Who would you pair him with? Ghost? Sanheim?

Farabee has started to fill out. He's not as big as his brothers and still has a way to go in that regard, but it's not a long-range issue of concern.

I remember Frost putting on 10 pounds one off-season, do you think if Farabee comes in at 185, has a good camp, he becomes the favorite to make the team? or the Flyers want him in the AHL and him over 190 ?

Bill, how is Farabee slide rule eligible in the AHL? I thought you only don’t burn a year if you’re in juniors or overseas but the AHL would start your entry level contract like how Sanheim completed his 3 years but only 2 with the Flyers.

What is his current height weight numbers as you can tell. No doubt the kid has talent. Guess I’m always routing for these kids to jump to the next level and earn it.

Seems he has been just a LW for as much as I know him. Does he have RW potential or does one of G (who didn’t play as effective on the right), JVR, or Lindblom able to slide to the RW side to make room for a Farabee?

Also what about Frost and his abilities to slide in to a RW spot? How big is Frost’s height weight number currently?

I also read that he prides himself on getting back in his own end to the puck first on chip ins. Takes the hit and protects the puck to get it to a teammate to start a break out.

To me that screams Ghost! Something Ghost was shy of taking that hit off the boards (don’t blame him...his is not built to take a lot of punishment) and is good at moving the puck up the ice.

You mentioned fit and this jumped out at me when I was first reading about Braun.

We will have to see out of camp.

Want Morin to fit in somewhere as soon as he is ready. Not sure where that happens. Always thought him and Myers would look great.

Not Bill but I remember Bill saying it is due to the fact he is coming in from playing a year in college and not yet 20. Basically playing pro without being a pro yet. Similar to those boys coming over from over seas like Hägg did. Correct me if I’m wrong someone.

correct. That is how I go though maybe they switch braun and Niskannen to see how that goes.

Myers isnt going to sit unless he stinks up the joint. Hagg is really irrelevant to me. Solid bottom pair guy is all. Morin will have to outplay everyone to get time.

Just going to be curious if they decide to move Ghost is the big question. Then let the other 2 battle it out.

Yeah, what a great late round pick. Was it the 6th round they got him. Was project as high as a solid 3rd round pick and a steal at the 5th round.

Skinny as a rail. I’m sure that had to do with it some. And I mean skinny. Looks like he is the body type who just can’t put on the weight. But if that is his knock they hey. Great steak in the 6th (I think 6th).

Edit: yeah 165 over all in the 6th round. 5’10” 158 pounds. RW.

That looks good to me. Crazy how deep the Flyers’ D is now. The best since the Pronger year in my opinion.

I’ll be happy if any rookie forward with skill is able to grab a roster spot. I’ve always said we need to get bigger and size has been addressed but I don’t think we are overwhelming physical. This bugs me. This team is the (frank) Philadelphia Flyers!! It’s high time they embrace their history. I’m not saying murder anyone, I’m saying be as mean as the league will allow.

NAK I think has the biggest chance to grab that 4th RW pushing Pitlick over to C and moving Laughton up to that 3RW. Not sure Farabee/Frost are going to have enough to jump into that 3RW spit out of camp.

Would love to see that.

Also think there is a trade coming. Maybe Fletch wants to see what he can bring the RFA in at before he knows what he can go after in a trade.
